As bad as it gets...

My first working day in Mumbai...The rains had taken a toll on the city and the infamous 26 July had just paased by...I reported at my office before time, all decked up in a formal attire with a tie..After all I was going to work for India's biggest IT company...Coming from an average B School, it was a dream for me...and I already felt like a winner...

As I go inside, the atmosphere was exactly opposite of what I had thought of....or had seen in other offices...It was completely unorganized and looked in a bad state...I blamed it on rains...Some conoslation for bad office place...Then ppl started coming in and all my hopes were killed...I saw ppl coming in chappals, shirts not tucked in and with an unshaven look (not to forget the long black umbrella)...I waited patiently for my manager to come in...Every one (I mean that) looked at me from top to bottom...One even whispered...He is wearing Tie!....I now know how Zoo animals feel...

Anyways...my manager came in finally...we had a short intro and then he took me for a round of the office....and then some formalities...He said "Do u have Pain"....I replied...Sorry???..."Pain, Pain"...he responded...It was then that I realized that he was asking for a Pen and not Pain!...Accent issues...Anyways...he was my temporary manager...and i was told that soon I will be having a new manager - A lady named "Femina" - Nice name, I thought and all the images of the Femina magezine came to my mind....I was actually looking forward to meeting Femina..with such a name and image in my mind, she was hard to resist...

And then after a few days, came my first meeting with her...I must say i was really excited...I had a perception about her in my mind...But but but...all hopes came crashing down as I saw her...A dark, tall and plump lady in her 40's (well nothing wrong with that) was sitting in her cabin...It was not the physical apperance but the experession on her face (Ok...both) made her look FEROCIOUS!...She was going to be my manager and she was dangerous...Khoosat Buddhi is the word in Hindi.....Nooooooooooo...(I had shouted in my mind)....Within a week, all my hopes of working in a sexy office with a lady manager were gone...and the weather was not helping either...rains rains and more rains...my first week in Mumbai was a disaster- in my mind atleast...and my Femina encounters did not stop here...It was just the beginning... :-(

December Sun!

There is nothing better than a sunny day in December winters...A bright sunny day which overcomes the morning chill...a warmth that makes you feel not only comfortable but also fills you with a lot of positive vibes...These were exactly my thoughts as I prepared myself for a much awaited 2 weeks off to North India...The memories of my childhood came back again when we waited for our winter vacation after the mid year exams...

Winters in North are normally percieved as foggy, dark and depressing....(at least thats what most ppl think)...but those who have stayed there know that there is nothing better than winter fun...cold mornings with hot cup of kadak tea , gossip with your family with all of them cudddled inside one blanket, heavy breakfast, hot water baths (i agree painful sometimes ), colorful sweaters, jackets etc....Well...it is very enjoyable....Girls get a good reason to show off their colorful wardrobes and I am sure guys are not complaining at all..even though girls are all covered ;-)

And then when the sun comes out in full force and you are out of the house to enjoy the season's beauty...A season where u wud see a lot of activities happening around..Small towns still have the culture of the yearly function (Mela aur Numaish as we used to call it)...Great offers, excellent food, cheap stuff....even the ardent shopping haters, me included, will get tempted for sure...The whole ambience is so colorful that you just can't avoid it...The make shift shops, shopkeepers from all parts of the country, a circus (nornally Jumbo circus), rides for kids, Maut ka kuan and not to forget the amazing food variety make it a real treat...The landscape looks golden under the "Sun effect" and becomes more and more beautiful as the day passes by....a normal day...but sooo impossible to recreate the ambience in the place where I live now...

I guess the saying that "Make hay while the sun shines" is aptly said...Before the fog hits the skies and disrupts the normal life, again like every year....we all try to enjoy....The same routine was followed every winter in my childhood...but the winter sun of december still remains a beautiful memory in my mind...See it to believe it....as a famous bollywood song says..."Give me some Sunshine"... :-)....but no rains plz....atleast not in December!....

A beginner's plight!

My First Blog - Actually was in double minds about this one - To go for it or not....Many reasons....Firstly, the apprehension to say what I feel (if at all I have something to say!) and then the language (not too comfortable with the language generally used by bloggers). Also there was a doubt in mind...Blogging is such a cliche these days...many do it as a serious medium to express their emotions...but many a times it turns out to be an effort to be a part of the growing fad...an attempt to be a thinking person ;-)...maybe a pseudo intellectual too

Anyways...now i too become a part of the blogging community - Just to write what I feel...In plain and simple language....Plz don expect any life changing thought...Simple and straight forward talks on very ordinary topics...from a very ordinary and a common man with no "special" qualities :-)

So here I begin...
